So this week, instead of sharing one specific itinerary, I want to talk about what actually makes one great — and why the best part of a private charter is that it can be shaped entirely around you.

What Makes a Great Itinerary

1. It's Not About Covering the Most Ground

The best charters are rarely the ones that hit the most islands in a week. They're the ones that know where to linger and when to move on — an extra hour at The Baths instead of squeezing in one more stop.

That's the difference between an itinerary that reads well on paper and one that actually feels good to live through.

2. The Captain Takes It From There

Every itinerary we build starts as a route on paper, but the day-to-day of it — when to leave, which anchorage handles the wind that day, when to slow down — is the captain's call, not ours. They're the ones reading the weather in real time, not us back in the office.

Restaurant reservations and exact timing are usually handled by your captain once you're on board — they know how the day is actually unfolding, what time you'll arrive, and when the group wants to eat.

Why not lock in more detail ahead of time? Because an overly detailed itinerary breaks the moment anything changes — a wind shift, a full anchorage, someone in the group waking up wanting to stay in bed. The captain is the one with the judgment to handle it in the moment.

3. A Mix of Icons and Quiet Anchorages

The itineraries that work best usually blend a handful of can't-miss stops — The Baths, White Bay — with quieter anchorages in between. All icons and no breathing room, and a week starts to feel like a checklist instead of a vacation.

4. Built to Flex With Your Group

The real advantage of a private charter is that none of this is fixed. The same BVI route can play out completely differently depending on who's on board — more snorkeling and beach time for one group, more sailing and distance for another, all shaped around the season and the weather.
