⛵Inside EMMYS: The Catamarans That Stood Out in Greece
Published about 2 hours ago • 6 min read
Hi Reader,
After sharing my recap from MEDYS in Nafplion, I wanted to continue with the second part of our Greece yacht show experience: EMMYS in Poros.
A Different Side of Greece Charters
While MEDYS gave us a closer look at many of the larger motor yachts in the East Mediterranean, EMMYS has a different energy. The show is much more focused on crewed catamarans and multihulls, which makes it especially valuable for us when looking at Greece charter options for families, couples, and groups who want a more relaxed, intimate, and sea-level experience.
And Poros is honestly the perfect setting for it.
The yachts are lined up around the port, and throughout the show we get to step onboard, meet the crews, tour the cabins, review the outdoor spaces, look at the water toys, ask about itineraries, and really understand what each yacht feels like beyond the photos or spec sheet.
That is always the most useful part.
With catamarans, the small details matter a lot: how the spaces are distributed, how comfortable the cabins feel, how the crew interacts with guests, how flexible the itinerary can be, and whether the yacht works best for families, couples, honeymooners, or groups of friends.
This year, these were three of the catamarans that stood out to me the most.
Inside LULU: bright interiors, a comfortable salon, and a galley designed for a seamless onboard experience.
1. LULU
Best for: clients looking for a brand-new, modern, elegant catamaran with excellent service
LULU was definitely one of the strongest catamarans I saw at the show.
She is a brand-new Lagoon 55, with a beautiful design and a setup that feels both elegant and practical for charter. The overall impression was excellent: modern styling, comfortable spaces to relax, and a crew that felt genuinely hospitable, professional, and very attentive.
One of the biggest highlights for me was the chef. The food impression was extremely strong, and the chef has a professional restaurant background, which makes LULU a great option for clients who especially value the culinary experience onboard.
One of LULU’s guest cabins, with clean design, warm tones, and comfortable en-suite spaces.
LULU’s outdoor spaces, designed for long lunches, sunset drinks, and easy days at sea.
The yacht is also very well prepared for more flexible and comfortable itineraries. With two water makers, three freezers, and an ice maker, the crew can stay away from the dock for the full week if the itinerary allows. That is a huge advantage for guests looking for a more relaxed, uninterrupted experience that feels more connected to the sea.
She also has several details that elevate the onboard experience, including a very comfortable outdoor area to enjoy during the day or evening, a cinema setup, eFoil, sea scooters, and a large, powerful, brand-new dinghy.
For me, LULU is a very easy yacht to recommend for the right client. She has the design, comfort, excellent service, and practical details that can make a charter feel seamless and special. I would position her especially for clients who prioritize food, comfort, design, and a very hospitable crew.
Two ways to dine on ARANEL — al fresco in the cockpit or inside with views of the water. Either way, the setting does half the work.
2. ARANEL
Best for: honeymooners, couples, and smaller groups looking for a warm and very personal experience
She is a Lagoon 51, and while she can technically accommodate up to 12 guests, I would personally position her more for groups of 6 to 8. That feels like the ideal number to make the experience more comfortable, intimate, and relaxed.
Crisp linens, warm wood, and all the little details taken care of. ARANEL's cabins are made for couples who want to actually unwind.
Javi and Flavia are what make ARANEL special. A captain from Málaga, a chef from Argentina, and a food spread that speaks for itself.
The biggest strength of ARANEL is the crew.
Javi, the captain, is from Málaga, and Flavia, the chef, is from Argentina. They were both extremely warm, friendly, and easy to connect with. You can tell they truly enjoy what they do, and that makes a huge difference onboard.
Javi is also very interested in filmmaking and often takes photos during the trip, which can be a beautiful detail for guests who want to keep special memories from their charter.
The crew also loves water sports, which gives the yacht a more fun and active side. The food was also very good, which made the overall impression even stronger.
ARANEL is not the yacht I would position as the most luxurious or spacious option, but she has something very valuable: personality. For the right clients, especially couples, honeymooners, or smaller groups, that warmth can be exactly what makes the charter unforgettable.
Main saloon The interior of GRAYONE sets the tone immediately. Dark tones, clean lines, and a layout that flows from dining to lounge
3. GRAYONE
Best for: clients looking for a sleek, modern, spacious Sunreef catamaran with strong water toys
GRAYONE was one of those yachts that immediately stood out.
She is a 2020 Sunreef 80 with a distinctive dark-grey hull, modern lines, and a contemporary interior that feels elegant, comfortable, and sophisticated. The design has a lot of personality: it is modern and eye-catching, while still maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
GRAYONE accommodates up to 8 guests in 4 en-suite cabins: one master cabin, two VIP cabins, and one twin cabin. This makes her a strong option for families, couples, or smaller groups looking for a more elevated catamaran experience without needing a very large guest capacity.
Aft cockpit Lunch with a view like this never gets old. GRAYONE's aft cockpit is made for long meals, good company, and nowhere to be.
Upper deck The upper outdoor area is where GRAYONE really shines. A full bar, alfresco dining, open sky, and nothing but water ahead.
What I really like about GRAYONE is the amount of usable space for guests. She has an aft cockpit that works beautifully for alfresco dining, a very comfortable upper outdoor area for relaxing, and a foredeck lounge with a bar and wine cellar, which gives the yacht a more refined and social feel.
The water toy setup is also a major selling point. She has a hydraulic swim platform, a powerful tender, SeaBobs, Flight Scooters, wakeboard, SUPs, waterskis for adults and children, snorkeling equipment, fishing gear, and an inflatable for kids. This makes her a very strong option for clients who want a combination of luxury and fun on the water.
Her crew of 5 also elevates the experience. Captain Spiros and Chef George are both Greek, which is a great advantage for Greece itineraries. The rest of the crew comes from different nationalities, bringing an interesting mix of hospitality, service, and communication onboard. Together, the crew speaks more than seven languages, which is very useful for international guests and helps create a more comfortable and personalized experience.
GRAYONE feels like a very strong option for clients who want the comfort and space of a large luxury catamaran, but with a more modern and distinctive style. She has the design, outdoor spaces, water toys, and crew setup to create a very complete Greece charter experience.
Final Thoughts from EMMYS
What I loved most about EMMYS was seeing how different each catamaran experience can be.
On paper, many yachts may look similar: same number of cabins, similar size, similar cruising area. But once you step onboard, the differences become much clearer.
Some yachts stand out for design and comfort. Others for food. Others for the personality of the crew. Some are perfect for families, while others work much better for couples, honeymooners, or groups of friends.
That is why attending these shows is so important for us.
It helps us understand not only which yachts are beautiful, but which yachts are actually the right fit for each client.
Between MEDYS and EMMYS, we came back with a much clearer view of the Greece charter market, stronger crew impressions, updated yacht notes, and a better sense of which options we can confidently recommend for different types of trips.
As Greece continues to be one of the most requested destinations for crewed charters, having this firsthand insight helps us recommend yachts with more confidence, intention, and care.
If Greece is on your radar, or you're simply looking for inspiration, we've put together a collection of resources to help you explore the destination.
I’m excited to keep bringing these behind-the-scenes impressions into our proposals and conversations with clients, so we can continue matching each group with the yacht and crew that truly fit their trip.
And if you’d like to follow along more closely, I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes moments from the shows, yacht walkthroughs, videos, and more from Greece over on my Instagram: @emiibythesea
